Follow the steps in order. Do not waste time on details.
Immediate – First 10 seconds
- Drop to the ground or get to cover immediately.
- Cover your head and face.
- Do not look directly at the blast light.
First 1-2 minutes
- Get inside any solid building as fast as you can.
- Stay away from windows.
- Close doors and windows if you can.
- Do not stay in a car.
First 5-30 minutes
- Move to the safest area: basement or interior room with no windows.
- Remove outer layer of clothing and bag it.
- Turn off ventilation, AC, and fans.
- Seal any openings to the outside.
